Course Description
Delve into the Alberta Basic Security Training Course, abbreviated as ABST, encompassing eight (8) comprehensive modules. Mastery of all modules, with a cumulative minimum of 40 hours, precedes the pivotal provincial exam, invigilated under proctor supervision. Achieving a stellar score of 80% or higher on this exam secures provincial certification, paving the way to apply for a coveted Security License in Alberta.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded your Training Certificate, marking the culmination of your journey through ABST. With a robust understanding of the Security Industry, participants emerge poised for professional engagement.
Duration : Immerse yourself in a 40-hour classroom experience.
Delivery : Engage in lively in-person sessions held Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 6 pm.
Exam : The exam will be on the Fifth day (Friday).

License Eligibility and Process
To be eligible for a license, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicant must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Maintain a clean criminal record with no prior convictions
- Have no pending criminal charges and not be under investigation for any criminal activities
- Demonstrate proficiency in English, meeting a prescribed fluency standard of level 5, as mandated.
Licensing Procedure for Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents:
Upon successful completion of the provincial security exam, applicants are required to adhere to the following steps to acquire their license:
- Apply for a Background Check: (Calgary Police, Edmonton Police or RCMP)
Once you have obtained your Background check, proceed with the following steps:
- Complete the Application Form: This form will be provided upon completion of your course at CI Security Academy.
- Obtain a Photograph: Follow the specifications outlined in the application form.
